The accrual helper was designed to help an accountant prepare their monthly expense accruals. It features a split view with the upper portion of the screen showing the ledger activity while the lower portion contains the working journal entry.
The utility was built with efficiency in mind. It allows the account to re-accrue prior month items and reclass expenses with just the click of the mouse. It features canned descriptions for consistency however they are fully customizable to fit any need. In addition it uses drop down combo boxes for account numbers and property numbers to minimize errors and speed up preparation. When finished the app exports the journal entry in a format fit for uploading into the accounting system.
In practice this utility reduced a process that took one day to few hours. It is easily adaptable to work with any accounting system. Written in Microsoft Access featuring Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
